August 7th, Ribfest, Deals Gone Bad, then Flogging Molly

Cheers Everyone,

Well, its that time of year again, the ‘outdoor festival type show’
time of year, the time of year we swear every year we are going to
stop playing shows because of the sheer sweatiness of our band.
Well, once again, we couldnt say no, so here you go, the next couple
shows, all outisde, all in the swealtering Nebraska heat.

THIS WEEK!!!!

Thursday August 7th
Capitol City Ribfest
Downtown Lincoln(outside Pershing auditorium)
7pm
The Killigans/Deals Gone Bad

Yes, Ribfest means, its a festival honoring the holy grail of
barbeque, the almighty pork rib. $5 admission, gets you a show, and
access to all the awesome vendors. Vegetarians beware. Looking at
the lineup of bands, this night seems to be the biggest night in
music. They’ve invited our friends “DEALS GONE BAD” over from
Chicago to headline the night. Deals plays a mix of soul, ska, and
reggae, and are one of our favorite bands. This show is going to be
a great time, so please come out and see these guys before they get
too big to come back.

Sunday August 10th
River Riot
Westfair Amphitheater
Council Bluffs Iowa
Flogging Molly
4pm
www.ticketmaster.com

Not sure how many tickets are left for this one. Yeah, we are
playing first in a string of 3 other bands, leading up to the one and
only Flogging Molly. If you are heading up to this show, be sure and
get there by 4 so you can catch us. We play early, followed by, The
Skybombers, Pomeroy, and Rehab. Woo.

Sunday August 31st
Nebraska State Fair
Open Air Auditorium
The Deraillers

Not sure on all the details yet, but I thought Id throw this in for
good measure. Austins mega huge country/rock act The Deraillers are
coming back to Lincoln on the big stage, and we were lucky enough to
be added to the bill. Cant wait for this one.

We will be back on the bar circuit in September. First up, Lincoln
Calling with 4020 at the State Theater, September 18th.

Also, Ive been hearing concern from all over about the status of Brown Bottle Hymnal.  Yes, it is currently sold out in hard copy form.  We are currently working on restocking it, but if could take a little time.  MP3 versions of the album are available all over the place, including www.itunes.com  Look for it to be back in print in the next couple of months.  Maybe even some vinyl.

Fathers Day BBQ This weekend

Duffys Tavern, the killigans, and Iron Brush Tattoo are hosting a FREE BBQ this sunday evening in the Duffys Beer Garden.  Festivities start around 7pm, going right up til….

KTP (Lawrence KS Punk/RocknRoll)

Shot Baker (Chicago Punk Rocker)

Killigans (Lincolns Own MotherFolkers)

Show up for some free food, Stay for just $5 and watch the best punk show Lincoln has seen in months.  Free stuff given away all night, feel free to bring the kiddies (til 9pm).

We will also be seen in Kansas City Friday June 13th at the Brick with KTP, and also Saturday June 14th in Omaha at The SaddleCreek Bar with Vandon Arms, and the Upsets.

We are very anxious to get back on stage, its been over a month.  Retooled with 2 guitars now, watch out for the new live show.  Peace

May 20th

The killigans will be adding a second guitar to their normal live show set up this spring.   Our very own Zach Stroup will be picking up the slack.  As a result, his mandolin will see less action than before, but the new sound will be something we can all look forward to.  A thicker more full killigans will emerge.  And Im not talking waistlines.

The Zoo Live album is still being mixed up at the moment.  Preliminary listens make me very optimistic about getting this thing released yet this summer.  You can check out a rough preview of the letter over on the myspace.  www.myspace.com/thekilligans

Summer tours are in the works.  A couple shows added to the myspace as well.  We will finally be back in Chicago in July (12th, 13th) with our friends Flatfoot56.  We’ll also be hitting the KC scene as well, but earlier, in june.

Id also like to mention real quick that a good friend of the band, Mark Dickinson, has kind of joined forces with us and is acting as a liason of sorts.  He is going to help us push this raggedy old tin can of a band of ours as far as it will go.  Or at least to the top of the next hill so we can all ride it down to the other side.

Ill post some more in depth show details, posters, etc as time approaches.  For now, know that our next outing is in KC on June 11th, at the Brick with KTP.

Let the summer begin.  peace

The Incredible Heat Machine (www.myspace.com/tihmband.com)

These guys play some great dance fueled speed ska and are the newest sensation on the Lincoln/Omaha scene.  Please support these guys if you dont already do.

The fun starts at 9pm.  Bring a friend or two, but make sure and pick up  your tickets beforehand, like now.  Im guessing this will sell out.  Get them now at

www.etix.com

We will hopefully have some new merch, new songs, and all sorts of crazy crap going down.  And by crazy crap, I mean, hats and streamers and those annoying noise makers.  And maybe some of those confetti fireworks things.  And maybe a “Happy New Years” sign.  You know, the ones with those cardboard letters held together by little rivets in each letters corner so each letter can move independently from the others like in a swaying motion, and maybe the letters are red, with a gold glitter outline, all held together on each end with a thin white string so it hangs in a big upside down arch under one of the doorways.   Yeah, its going to be THAT kind of party.

News

Been awhile since an update. Here you go.

This coming Friday, November 2nd, we will be playing for the first
time ever (in a bar at least) in Hastings Nebraska.

Vincent Michaels Bar
The Killigans with
The Nedwrecks
9pm-1pm
$5

Not 100percent on that cover, but if you expect to pay 5, and its
free, more drinks for you. Anyways….We checked out this bar last
time we were in town and its pretty sweet. Brand spankin new,
upscale, ritzy type place. Exactly the opposite of where youd expect
to find us, but hell, its a nice place, and we love playing, so we
are there. Hopefully the place is still in one piece when we leave.

Also, next Friday November 9th, we will be playing Duffys Tavern here
in Lincoln. This will be a free show and was set up as a send off
party for a local getting shipped to Iraq. Please come down at 9pm
and help everyone support our troops by sending her off in style.
Also playing is good friend Natelli Illenea(sorry for the spelling)

In other news, theres not much. We have slowly been chopping away at
new songs, trying to book shows around the midwest, and just trying
to make it through the busy fall so we can get back on track. We are
in the works of “label shopping” as I type, but this could take some
time. We have been extremely lazy in this department for say, 3
years now, but we’ve done enough shows lately with label backed bands
to understand theres no reason we shouldnt be taken serious.

We are about 1/3rd of the way through another album, but no
definitive plans right now to actually record. Its on all of our
minds though. Some of the new songs are miles beyond anything we’ve
attempted before. A couple titles for you: Never on the Mend( A song
about brads family heritage), New Revolution(about the perils of
blindly following the leader), Can the Sir(zachs song about losing
the battle with cancer) and Oil and Gold(true story about a local
heros war horrors)

Look for us in Chicago, Minneapolis and Denver come the new year, as
well as our normal Lincoln/Omaha shows. Hopefully 2008 can bring us
a little luck. Peace

The Kill’s

BIG SHOW THIS WEEKEND…..IN LINCOLN!

Lincoln Calling
The Killigans/10th Horse/The Vandon Arms: Saturday Oct 6th Zoo Bar
9pm

Vandon Arms: The killigans blood brothers to the east. These
DesMoines hearthrobs are slightly more in shape, a little younger, a
little drunker, and definately just as roudy. Look for them to kill
just like the last time they came around. Pub Rock like Shane
McGowan meets Rancid. www.myspace.com/thevandonarms

10th Horse: Former Lincoln Heroes “The Amalgamators” came to
realize that after losing a member the sound that once was could no
longer be. They began to inject new songs with a bit more adrenalin.
Light shuffles on the snare from Nick soon became driving beats,
Marks soft shoe bass lines no longer for the faint of heart, and the
once polite acoustic styling of Patrick has for now been set aside
making way for a unique brand of rock and roll somewhere between
Eddie Hazel and Black Sabbath. If you havent seen these guys, you
wont forget them after you do.
www.myspace.com/10thhorse

The Killigans: Punk meets Folk meets a dash of Olde Time Country.
Depending on the night, who knows what they hell they will play.
The zoos stage barely holds the 6 of them, but they wont let that
tame their already explosive live set. A live band who truly lives
to play bars like the zoo.

Duffys August 19th with Mischief Brew

Sunday August 19th, Duffys 8PM, 18+Philly native Erik Peterson brings Mischief Brew back to lincoln to join the killigans in a night of folk punk mayhem. Presented by IronBrushTattoo www.ironbrush.com and Eyeskull www.eyeskull.com

from www.myspace.com/mischiefbrewEmerging from pist-off Pennsylvania punk rock troupe The Orphans, Mischief Brew was started with a single scratchy demo tape by Erik Petersen…utilizing such instruments as acoustic guitar, 12-string Bolivian mandolin, junk percussion, yo ho ho, and a bottle of rum. It ‘grew’ into a one-person band/acoustic act in the vein of Billy Bragg, Stan Rogers, or Woody Guthrie…and nowadays, you never know what to expect. From a live three-piece punk/folk parade to a multi-piece studio experience with accordions and marimba…Mischief Brew aims to keep you on your boot-tips with a chaotic sampling of pirate-swing, gypsy-jazz, and polka-punk. In the mood? Tune in on the heart of Saturday night at a basement or bar near you…

Ifn you dont know who these guys are, please please check them out. They will not disapoint….Very Billy Bragg-ish, and not to mention the killigans first real lincoln bar show in about 2 -3 months.  And its early.  no need to worry about not getting up for work monday.  screw work!
